City of Anaheim paves the way for many more craft breweries

My job as a Commercial Real Estate Broker just got easier in the City of Anaheim.
Thanks to Mayor Tom Tait and the City Council.

I found the following article in Anaheim that puts that city right to the top of the list for craft brewery locations. The city has removed the requirement for a CUP for a craft brewery, and also will allow breweries in not only industrial, but commercial areas also. This is a real game changer.

The Sarah Bennett also wrote about the change in the codes.

If you know of anybody who needs help finding space for a brewery in the Los Angeles or Orange County, ESPECIALLY ANAHEIM,  please let me know.

San Fernando Brewing Co. CUP documents

The San Fernando Brewing Co. has just received approval for their Conditional Use Permit Application from the City of San Fernando Planning Dept.
I have created a link to the 62 page document including conditions imposed on the operation of the tasting room and brewery.
Congratulations to the San Fernando Brewing Co. for finding a building and getting Planning approval!

Boomtown Brewery get City of LA approval

I attended the zoning hearing for Boomtown Brewery, a new and very large brewery in the Arts District of Los Angeles. It went very well for Boomtown, which is being started by the people behind the Stout Burgers collection of restaurants.

The zoning officer accepted the off site parking proposed for the 20,000 sq ft brewery, and did not have any other objections. There was nobody else at the hearing except a rep from the councilman's office. It was over in 10 minutes.

The brewery is located at the corner of Vignes and Jackson, 700 Jackson St, in Los Angeles, north of 1st street. It is 1/3 of a mile walking from the Little Tokyo/Arts District Gold Line station.

Good luck to Alex Kagianaris and Boomtown Brewery.

City of Costa Mesa, CA - Video of Planning Hearing for Barley Forge Brewing Co.

Here is an excellent video of the Planning Hearing for the Barley Forge Brewing Co. Conditional Use Permit Application.
The meeting took place on Nov. 12, 2013.
The Brewery was item number three, Application PA-13-18, which begins at 1 hour and 30 minutes into the meeting. The Staff were very helpful in moving the application forward to approval.
Barley Forge was very well prepared with a Power Point presentation and plans. Marice White was representing Barley Forge, and she was successful in keeping the Planning Board focused on the important points. She also was able to relax a couple of the conditions that were proposed.
Congratulations to Barley Forge Brewing Co.
