An endorsement from my brewery client Wiretap Brewing, coming to Los Angeles soon.

Wiretap Brewing is coming to Los Angeles very soon. They are a small artisan craft brewery, that will be located in the Arroyo Seco/Cornfield area just north of DTLA.
They have an informative blog post concerning their search for a location. At the very end, Adam and Matt say some nice things about me. (see below). Thanks guys!

The blog post can be found here:

[2] If you're in the LA area we were fortunate to run into Mike Lanzarotta with NAI Capital. He's been a commercial broker for the last half decade and prior to that spent 20 years running a brewery called Crown City Brewing. Which, if you're from around the San Gabriel Valley should resonate. If you're a newcomer to the area then the current home of Congregation Ale House at Del Mar and Raymond in Pasadena has a nice tribute to Crown City inside (the former tenant). You should use a broker and using one who has experience on both sides of the equation and has so far found space for a lot of startup breweries means that things like nuances with cities, zoning, and various people you should talk to come as part of the expertise. If you want Mike's info send us an email.

Great info on Restaurant Leases, that apply to Breweries also

When we owned the Crown City Brewery, we used Krost CPAs, who specialize in restaurant accounting.
They have published an informative article on leases. ESPECIALLY THE PART ON USING A COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE BROKER TO HELP NEGOTIATE THE LEASE.

Thanks Debi Sommars
See the Facebook page of Krost CPAs in Pasadena, Callifornia

Small Craft Brewers having to post an Excise Tax Bond is a thing of the past.

More good news for small craft breweries. The TTB has eliminated the excise tax bonding requirements for small breweries. Thank you Craft Brewing Business for this.

Cautionary Tale about Getting Ahead of Inspections

Cal Coast News published an article detailing how City Inspectors shut down an event at the new SLO Brewing Event Center to begin SLO Beer Week.
You cannot host events, even small "investor" tastings, until all inspections are completed and your brewery is approved for occupancy of the public.
The most important consideration is this: once the inspectors get inside, they start looking at everything else. So now SLO Brewing has multiple red flags to deal with.
DON'T PUT THE BREWERY CART BEFORE THE INSPECTION HORSE.

Crowdfunding for Craft Brewers

My good friends at Brewery Resources just sent out an email with a link to an article from their good friend Kathleen Minogue. She discusses the recent changes to security laws that allow breweries to raise capital from "unsecured investors", which most of us are.
Brewdog in Scotland is mentioned.
Please consult experts before attempting anything like this.
